Shillong (Meghalaya) ,Feb 22: The ruling Congress today dared the National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad K Sangma to put his hand on the ‘Holy cross’ and say he will not join the Bharatiya Janata Party after the February 27 Assembly poll in Meghalaya.

Williamnagar(Meghalaya) , Feb 19 : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the killing of NCP candidate Jonathone N. Marak portrays utter chaos and lawlessness in the state of Meghalaya. 
Addressing an election rally at Songsak in East Garo Hills, Singh grieved the death of Jonathone N Sangma – NCP’s candidate for the Williamnagar seat – and said his gruesome murder was the outcome of the Congress government’s failure on the law and order front.

Tura (Meghalaya), Feb 19 :“Yesterday we went first to Jongmegre as it was the last week of campaigning and the people had called our candidate (Jonathone) to discuss. We then went to Dorakgre where we heard that posters were put up threatening people against voting for our candidate. We assured the people to not fear and vote for who they wanted. We just wanted to ensure that people did not have any fear,” said Benjamin Marak, eyewitness to the incident.
