Langsning to face bottom club Chennaiyin reserves in Second Division League match on Saturday

Shillong(Meghalaya) April  20:Langsning FC will look to continue their unbeaten run in Second Division League away matches as they take on Chennaiyin FC reserves on Saturday in their Group C fixture in Chennai at 4:00pm.
Two of Langsning’s six matches played have been away and the Shillong team first defeated Jamshedpur FC reserves 3-1 on April 4 before drawing 0-0 with Mohammedan Sporting on April 9. 

Meghalaya : Japanese Footballer playing for a Shillong Club convicted of Rape

Shillong (Meghalaya ) April  20 : A  young  footballer selected in prestigious Chandigarh Football Academy, Sho Kamimura from Japan, a star footballer playing for a football club from Shillong in the I -League  during  the 2012 and 2013 has been convicted on  a rape charge  in Japan  just after he  left the club .
The startling   revelations of Kamimura’s conviction  was found after conducting  research on a   feature film  on what past the  players had  since leaving the team.

Meghalaya : Dinosaur fossils found inside world's longest sandstone cave

Shillong (Meghalaya), April 20  : Believe it or not . Now , dinosaur fossils mainly  of a giant aquatic carnivorous reptile Mosasaurus that lived 66-76 million years ago — have been found. in   the the world’s longest sandstone cave has been explored recently in the hilly state of Meghalaya. Situated near  Mawsynram in the  East Khasi Hills district, it has been named Krem Puri, when a team  led by the President of Meghalya Adventure Association Brian Kharpan Daly explored it just few months back .

Meghalaya: Garo Students Body submits memo to CM Conrad

Shillong (Meghalaya), April 18 :Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has assured Garo Student’s Union, Southern Zone delegation, who submitted a memorandum today seeking his intervention on implementing a double lane for NH-62 and NH 62 (E) of South Garo Hills.
The Chief Minister told the delegation that Government was committed to improve the road connectivity in the State and adequate thrust will be accorded to improve road, communication and connectivity in the region.

Meghalaya to balance economic, environmental activities: CM

The chief minister's comments came in the backdrop of the impact of an NGT ban on coal mining in the state four years ago.

Meghalaya man lynched, wife, pregnant daughter attacked for practising witchcraft

Tura (Meghalaya ), April 18 : A 68-year-old man was lynched and his wife and pregnant daughter were injured in a Meghalaya village when a group of people attacked them on the suspicion of practising witchcraft, police said on Tuesday.
Five people, including three brothers, were arrested in connection with the attack that took place at Dainadubi area in North Garo Hills district on Monday night.

Meghalaya : Petrol bomb hurled at Editors residence

Shillong (Meghalaya), April 17 : Miscreants this evening hurled a petrol at the residence of the Editor of  a local English  daily  published from the state . According to official  sources the incident took place at around  8.30 pm in Umpling  area of the city.
According to sources , two unidentified  persons hurled a  bomb at her residence  and escaped under the cover of darkness.  Noted journalist, Activist   and Editor of The Shillong Times , Patricia Mukhim  was present at her residence at the time of th incident .

Meghalaya ranks 4th in cancer cases in NE region

Shillong (Meghalaya), April 16 :The North East has the highest number of cancer cases in the country and Meghalaya ranks below Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur in the region, the Meghalaya Assembly was informed today.
People are much aware of cancer now and are coming forward for detection, timely treatment and this has led to the increase in cancer cases being registered, Health Minister A L Hek said.

World Bank to lend $48 mn for landscape management in Meghalaya

New Delhi, April 16 : India on Monday signed a $48 million loan agreement with the World Bank to strengthen community-led landscape management in Meghalaya.
Meghalaya's natural resources such as land, water and forests is a source of livelihood for a majority of the population in the state.
