For decades  North Eastern states especially  Manipur was deprived  of any night life due to law and order problems  but now the government  has decided  to start  a Night  Plaza to provide  a healthy  and secure night life in the city areas.

Manipur :Editors' Guild condemn killing of Tripura journalist

Imphal (Manipur) : The killing of a journalist in  Tripura on Sep 20 last has evoked strong reactions from the Manipur journalists bodies. The Editors Guild Manipur strongly condemned killing of Shantanu Bhowmik, a reporter of Dinraat Channel, of Tripura by a mob on 20 September 2017. Guild Secretary, Rupachandra said Bhowmik was killed when he was doing his duty of collecting news of a class between two groups in Tripura.
 

Manipur :Bandh against signing of merger agreement affects normal life

Imphal(Manipur)  : Normal life was completely affected in the state due a 24 hour general strike imposed by National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM)  here on Thursday to protest the signing of merger agreement between King Boddhachandra  of Manipur and Government of India on Sep 21, 1949.
 
The NRFM alleged that the Manipur king was coerced to sign the merger agreement which led to annexation of Manipur on 15 Oct 1949.
 

Manipur Governor moots for protection of rich biodiversity

Imphal (Manipur)  : Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla on Wednesday  said she is working very hard for removal of Ithai Barrage and she  met the Ministry of Environment at the centre to pursue the matter. Because of the barrage, the largest lake in the north- east, Loktak lake is shrinking.  Water cannot flow to down stream and many rare species both flora and fauna are vanishing ,she added.
 

Women come to police as a last resort : Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla

Imphal, (Manipur)   : Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla on Monday appealed to Manipur Police personnel to give special attention to all cases related to sexual offences. She said she has been receiving shocking reports of rape, molestation, sexual assaults of women for the last several months.
 
She further said, “Manipur is a state of rich tradition and culture and women hold a high position in the society and crime against women used to be a rarity. Inequality prevails in our society as to how women face oppression and inequality from womb to tomb.”

Al Qaeda terrorist arrested in Delhi, Wanted to set up base in Manipur &Mizoram

New Delhi :A British national Al Qaeda terrorist on a mission to radicalise Rohingya Muslims to fight in Myanmar has been arrested in the Indian capital on Monday.
He was on a mission to radicalize Rohingya Muslims to fight in Myanmar and  on a mission to set up base in Mizoram and Manipur, the Northeast Indian states which shares open  borders with Myanmar. 
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police P.S. Kushwah said Shami Rehman, 27, was arrested near Shakarpur bus stand in east Delhi on Sunday evening.
 

Manipur : Fake doctor arrested from a reputed hospital

Imphal (Manipur ) :  Believe it  or not . A fake doctor was nabbed by the staff of  the prestgious  Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)  here  and handed over to Police . The " fake doctor" , 28 -year old  Md Aslam Khan  was  examining  patients  and  prescribing  medicines to the patients  for quite some time .
