Four Indian boxers in fray, all eyes on Shashi, Ankushita

Guwahati(Assam): Four doughty Indian boxers will step into the ring on Friday afternoon, hoping to turn the country’s hopes and dreams into reality as the curtain goes up on the semifinals of the AIBA Women's Youth World Boxing Championships here in Guwahati.
Ten bouts in the fly, feather, welter, middle and heavy categories are on the card on Day 1 of this epochal stage, with only Russia matching the impressive number that India have managed to send into the Last Four stage.

Veteran Assamese actor Biju Phukan passes away

Guwahati (Assam) - Assam's prominent film actor Biju Phukan passed away at a private hospital here on Wednesday.
Phukan, who was suffering from cardiac ailments for last few days, was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati around 4.30 p.m on Wednesday. The doctors said he breathed his last around 6.15 p.m.
"Phukan was suffering from breathing problems for last few days," family sources said.

AIBA launches ‘GlovesUp’ in Guwahati to create boxing ecosystem in North East

Guwahati(Assam): The International Boxing Federation (AIBA) launched its famed legacy programme ‘GlovesUp’ here on Wednesday with the eventual goal of producing a new generation of world-class boxers in the years to come.
The highly successful programme is designed to create a boxing environment in the country that begins at the grassroots level and impacts boxing at all levels.

Five Indians storm into semis of World Youth Championship; 7 medals assured for India

Guwahati(Assam) : Indian boxers put up a spectacular show here on Wednesday, with five of them sailing into the semifinals of the AIBA Women’s World Youth Boxing Championships and writing their names on at least a bronze medal each.
The country is assured of a minimum of 7 medals now, including the two that Neha Yadav (81+) and Anupama (81kg) had booked earlier, making it in an unprecedented performance in the championships.

Guwahati (Assam ): India had a brilliant day in the AIBA World Women's Youth Boxing Championships here on Tuesday, with all five boxers who stepped into the ring winning and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Guli Jyoti (flyweight), Shashi Chopra (featherweight) and Ankushita Boro (light welter) stole the limelight in the afternoon while Nitu (light-flyweight) and Sakshi (bantam) impressed in the evening session.

Guwahati(Assam): Hosts India received an early shot in the arm when two of their boxers, Neha Yadav (+81) and Anupama in the 81 kg category drew a bye in the pick of lots getting a direct entry into the semifinals of the 4th edition of  the AIBA World Women's Youth & Junior Boxing Championships that start at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium, here in Guwahati on Sunday.

Assam : E-waste Programme launched in Guwahati

Guwahati(Assam): Karo Sambhav launched an E-Waste awareness initiative in the schools of Guwahat in association with principal sponsor partners, Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo and implementing partner Rongjeng Technologies. Moderated by social entrepreneur  Ranjan K Baruah, the workshop was attended by teachers from High School in Guwahati who are going to conduct 6 different classes to their students. The programme was held at Bosco Reach Out, here  on Saturday.
