The wait is over. Manipur will go to the Assembly polls in two phases falling on March 4 and March 8. The counting for the entire 60 seats would take place on March 11 simultaneously with UP, Punjab Goa and Uttarakhand.
Chief Election Commissioner announced the schedule in New Delhi on Wednesday saying that the princely north eastern state will go to the first phase of polls for 38 seats from 7 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.
The second phase will cover 22 seats on March 8 from morning 7 to end at 4 in the afternoon without any break
Governor will issue the poll notification on February 8 where the candidates for this phase will have to file nominations by February 15 to be scrutinized the next day.
For the second phase polls, the notification would be issued on February 11 and the last date for filing nominations would be February 18. The nominations would be scrutinized the next day and on February the candidates would be able to withdraw from the polls on February 22.
