Mumbai(Maharashtra) , April 7 :Former INX Media chief Indrani Mukerjea hailing fron Nandanpur locality of Guwahati and accused of murdering her 24- year old daughter Sheena Bora underwent a brain MRI scan and other tests after she was rushed to the Sir J.J. Hospital here due to an alleged drug overdose, a top official said on Saturday.
"We are carrying out several tests and she has just undergone a brain MRI. We are awaiting the reports. These will help us ascertain whether she had a drug overdose or it is some other issue," hospital Dean S.D. Nanandkar told IANS.
Indrani -- in custody since August 2015 as one of the prime accused in the April 2012 disappearance and subsequent murder of her 24-year old daughter Sheena Bora -- was rushed to the hospital around 11 p.m. on Friday from Byculla Jail.
She was reported to be in a semi-conscious and delirious state.
However, Nanandkar said she was now responding well to treatment, all her vital parameters were normal and her health condition was "stable".
Further action will be taken after the medical team evaluate her test reports, he added.
Earlier, in 2015, Indrani had been rushed to the hospital for a similar medical emergency arising out of a suspected drug overdose and remained under treatment for nearly a week.
Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora is undergoing treatment at Sir JJ Hospital. According to hospital authorities, it appears to be a case of poisoning or drug overdose. "Indrani was brought here in disoriented condition. Tests have been done. Preliminary tests point towards poisoning or drug overdose. We're waiting for reports," SD Nanandkar, Dean of JJ Hospital was reported as saying by ANI.
Indrani Mukerjea was admitted to the hospital on Friday night. She was rushed from Byculla jail after her health deteriorated in the jail. She was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital post 11:30 pm on Friday.
According to reports, she has been kept in Intensive Care Unit and her condition is stable. Though her condition is stable now, there is no further improvement in her health. She has been kept under observation.
Several tests were done on Indrani Mukerjea in the hospital including CT Scan and MRI. The test results are awaited. Her vitals are currently stable.
After being treated in an emergency ward, she was shifted to critical care unit (CCU). While her condition is stable now, there is no further improvement in her health. She is kept under observation.”
As per the initial medical reports, she had sudden onset unconsciousness. Several tests were done on Indrani Mukerjea in the hospital including CT Scan and MRI.
“Her CT MRI test reports states that her brain has ischaemic changes - it is age-related medical changes. She has blood pressure issues and is on blood pressure treatment. There are no major medical issues. She is responding slowly but nothing spontaneous,” added Dr. Surase.
The Dean of JJ Hospital told ANI that "preliminary tests point towards poisoning or drugs overdose", but Dean's phone was switched off.
No medical bulletin has been released and the final picture would be clear after all the reports come out. " Stomach and Urine reports are not ready yet. The final decision on the drugs overdose aspect would be taken after all the reports are ready," said Dr Sanjay Susare. (IANS /ANI)
