Dimapur(Nagaland) , April 10: Upset with the statement of Minister of State (Home), Kiren Rijiju that the “NSCN has ‘dropped’ the stand of the Nagas on their sovereign right”, the NSCN (IM) has issued a statement denouncing MoS’s assertion and also declared him as “incompetent to comment” on the ongoing Indo-Naga negotiation.

The NSCN (IM) today stated that the “repeated immature statements” of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju is “creating a lot of confusion and thereby vitiating the environment of negotiation.”

The NSCN-IM, in its communique stated that the “repeated immature statement” of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, is “creating a lot of confusion and thereby vitiating the environment of the negotiation”, the NSCN deems it necessary to make it plain and clear to one and all of what has been transpiring all along these twenty-one long years of “historic negotiations”.

NSCN-IM stated that the Union Minister’s recent comments on April 8 was “unbecoming.” The Minister had during a press conference in Guwahati said that a “tangible” solution was at hand; that the territorial integrity of other states would not be affected; and that “the issue of sovereignty and some other serious issues” were dropped from the negotiations.

To this, the NSCN (IM) retorted: “It is demeaning of him to denigrate the Indo-Naga talk which is being held at the Prime Ministerial level. At no point of the negotiation have both the parties ignored important political issues, and the concocted statement of Rijiju that, NSCN has ‘dropped’ the stand of the Nagas on their sovereign right is a figment of his own imagination.”

The NSCN-IM termed as “unbecoming” of Rijiju to comment on the ongoing negotiation to which he is incompetent to comment.

“It is demeaning of him to denigrate the Indo-Naga talk which is being held at the Prime Ministerial level. At no point of the negotiation have both the parties ignored important political issues, and the concocted statement of Mr. Rijiju that, “NSCN has ‘dropped’ the stand of the Nagas on their sovereign right” is a figment of his own imagination. When the talk is progressing at the highest level, Mr. Rijiju has no business to talk on political issues of which he is ignorant,” it stated.

NSCN-IM claimed that the signing of the framework agreement on 3rd August, 2015 has laid the principles and foundation towards the final solution.

“At this crucial state, giving out irresponsible statements in the media or otherwise by any individual or party that contravenes the spirit of the peace talk is uncalled for. We advice him to restrain himself from such repetition in near future in the interest of both the parties,” the NSCN-IM advised.
