Nagaland: Man's hand chopped off by friend’s son; accused on the run

Kohima (Nagaland), April 12 : In a shocking incident, a man had his left hand chopped off from the wrist reportedly by his friend’s son at Merapani on Tuesday at around 7:30 p.m.
According to family members, the victim, Chenio Ovung of Lotsü village, under Sanis sub-division, and the father of the accused were acquaintances who worked together in a saw mill at Merapani.
The incident reportedly occurred when Chenio attempted to pacify an altercation that broke out between father-son duo. In the process, Chenio was attacked by the accused with a machete. While Chenio was unconscious, the accused severed his left hand.
According to police, the victim was attacked by two brothers – Kania Kachari and Godi Kachari – and his hand was chopped off by Kania. After the incident, the family members fled, police said. The victim was rushed to District Hospital Dimapur and was reported to be out of danger.
An FIR has been lodged with Bhandari Police station.
