Mizoram : NEZCC programme committee held at Aizwal

Aizwal (Mizoram), April 9: Nagaland Governor & Chairman North East Zone Cultural Centre PB Acharya today stated that NEZCC has been in the vanguard of preserving, nurturing and disseminating the variety of cultures and art forms of the eight North Eastern States since its inception.
 
He called for involvement of all Member States in the activities of NEZCC. A  Communique issued by PRO, Raj Bhavan Kohima stated that Acharya also said that we must continue to safeguard and promote our rich culture, tradition and language because they are our identity and describe who we are.
 
Acharya in his speech at the Programme Committee Meeting of NEZCC for the year 2018-19 held at Aijal Club, Aizwal, Mizoram on Monday, with Governor of Mizoram Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma in attendance stated that NEZCC not only aims to showcase, promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the North East region but also to promote and strengthen emotional and National integration through cultural exchange and programmes. 
 
Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma while welcoming the gathering stated that NEZCC and the other Zonal Cultural Centres of India have been set up with the aim to project cultural kinship, transcending territorial boundaries and  towards that end, various number of programmes, including the promotion of folk and tribal arts, exchange of artistes, documentation of arts and culture, Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme, Theatre Rejuvenation, Young Talent Artistes Award Scheme, arts and crafts exhibition, and many more have been taken up.
 
He added that the Nation continues to strive towards a pluralistic yet united Indian culture - a culture wherein the Bihu dance and the Cheraw are celebrated as much as the Bharatanatyam and the Kathak Dances.
 
The programme was chaired by Secretary, Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, Smt. Shola Those, while Director NEZCC, Jitul Sonowal delivered the welcome address.  Minister for Art & Culture, Government of Mizoram, R Romawia also spoke on the occasion. The Meeting was attended by all eight Member States.
