Imphal (Manipur) : Gold biscuits worth about Rs 1.79 cr weighing 5.97 Kgs was seized at Imphal airport on Friday. Deputy Commissioner, Customs Division, Imphal , Gaikhonlung Panmei said the gold were hidden in rectums of the six individuals .
Acting on a tip off , Customs Division informed CISF personnel at the Imphal airport and personnel of the two units interrogated the six suspects and found 36 number of gold biscuits . All were reportedly brought from abroad. The apprehended persons were identified as Kewal Singh from Udhampur, J&K, Dulair Singh from J&K, Neeraja from Amritsar, Punjab, Rintu Haider from West Midnapore, West Bengal, Mintu Pan from West Midnapore, West Bengal and Rohit Bagga from Central Delhi .
D.C (Customs) said that the apprehended persons were acting as couriers and the real owner is yet to be identified. The clandestine operation was done in a organised manner as all six persons came in different flights to avoid any suspicion.
