
Tezpur (Assam): A Sukhoi-30 fighter plane of Indian Air Force (IAF) is missing as it on its way from Tezpur salonibari air force station near the Indo China border on a routine sortie and lost its radar contact after 60 km on air distance .
One crew member and one pilot on board the fighter plane during its sortie this morning at a 10.30 am and after one hour the IAF Tezpur air base could not establish any contact with the fighter plane , sonitpur deputy commissioner Manoj Kumar Deka told www.southasiaviews.com .
Defence spokesperson Sombit Ghosh told this correspondent that the SU -30 was airborne from Tezpur salonibari today on a routine training mission and it lost Radar and Radio contact approximately 60 km north of Tezpur . He said that the aircraft is overdue and actions have been initated.
Sonitpur deputy commissioner has instructed all sub divisions in Biswanath district and in bordering Arunachal Pradesh to share any information available about the missing fighter plance .
The country’s frontline aircraft SU-30 MKI was inducted in Tezpur air base by the former IAF Vice –Chief Air Marshal P.K.Borbora during his tenure in June 15 ,2009 . At present Tezpur have strength of two squadrons of SU-30 aircraft .
On May 19, 2015 one SU-30 aircraft had crashed during routine training and the two pilots on board ejected safely and the aircraft crashed in a nearby paddy field injuring one woman which the first incident In India's Northeast . The sukhoi's especially fly on the international border with China along eastern and western Arunachal Pradesh.During the last three days night flying was continuing on the skies of Tezpur and its adjoining areas as part of their routine training exercise.
