Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 4 : The Secretary of the Rotary Club of Orchid City, Vivek Kumar was on Tuesday assaulted by a group of miscreants who were part of a procession at Lumparing near Hill Top Chateau while he was on his way back to his residence .
Talking to South Asia Views, Kumar said that around 8.20 pm while he was returning back home a group of miscreants attacked him , who were part of a procession .
” Despite giving way to a procession some miscreants pelted stones on my car when I tried to find out what really happened , I was man handled by the miscreants with punches on my face and chest and and had to take immediate medical treatment “, Kumar said .
Kumar who is residing in the state for the past nine years had voluntarily decided to make Shillong his home town to bring a positive change among the people , especially the local Khasis .
A forerunner in plastic ban in the state , Kumar along with some like- minded friends had launched the first compostable carry bags(SE Organic Bag TM)and packaging material in the state to maintain the natural beauty of Shillong and NE .
” This incident has made me realize one very important thing , we are doing less for society and people . These youths who sadly did something like this is unfortunately misguided , derailed and need special care . This is the the time ,the elders/elites of the society need to break their silence and speak through their actions in showing light to these youths,” lamented Kumar .
He said that the miscreants also tried to pull him out of the vehicle, but he managed to flee from the scene .
Meanwhile , a FIR has been lodged in Laban Police Station .
