Guwahati:(Assam), Aug 3 : The Byatikarm Group on Tuesday organized a car rally titled “Go For Gold Lovlina Borgohain” to support and generate best wishes for Assam’s Pugilist Lovlina Borgohain.
The rally started from Hotel Landmark, B Barooah Road, Guwahati from 8 AM onwards covering the prime locations of Guwahati city ahead of her bouts in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The campaign was attended by the eminent personalities such as Regional Director of India tourism North East, Sankha Subhra Devbarman, MLA and Former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi, Former IAS Officer Swapnanil Barua, Former IAS Officer Rajiv Prakash Baruah, Eminent singer Dr. Sangita Kakati, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Guwahati Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Mansur.
The founder of Byatikram Group, Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, said, “This is an attempt to support and cheer for our daughter. We hope that the prayers and support from the people of Assam will make her win medals. Our best wishes for her upcoming bouts.”
Supporting the campaign, the Regional Director of India tourism North East, Sankha Subhra Devbarman said ,” Lovlina, not only made the state proud but also the whole nation by qualifying for the Olympic medals and this itself is a moment to cherish”.
Lovlina was up against Nien-Chin Chen in her quarter final bout. She had lost to the Chinese Taipei boxer in her previous four meetings but the Indian produced a fine display and got the win to assure herself at least a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
Lovlina will now face the top-seeded boxer from Turkey Busenaz Surmeneli on August 4. A win in the semi-final will make her the most successful Indian boxer at the Olympics.
