Kokrajhar (Assam) Aug 16: In a major breakthrough, police in Kokrajhar again recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition within a span of days in Kokrajhar district on Sunday ahead the elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council.
Speaking to the reporters on Sunday at SP office,Kokrajhar SP Rakesh Roushan said that the police in Kokrajhar has again been able to unearth a huge cache of arms and ammunition’s during a search operation from two different locations in the district which were kept buried.
Roushan informed, based on a tip off regarding presence of illegal arms and ammunition, operations conducted at two places by Kokrajhar Police on Sunday afternoon when the cache of arms and ammunition’s were recovered.
The first operation was conducted at Katlibil jungle area under Saraibil border outpost under Gossaigaon police station and the second at Belguri jungle area under Serfanguri police station in the district .
The recovery arms and ammunition’s recovered include one MMG, five AK 56 rifles, 4 magazines, 244 round live ammunition’s,one INSAS rifle, one magazine, 23 live ammunition’s, 3 mm pistol, five magazine, one .22 Chinese gun, one 36 hand grenade and one MMG chain .
On Aug 10 police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition’s from Panijani jungle area under Tulsibil police outpost. The recoveries included two AK 56 rifles,three magazines,two 36 HE grenades,two detonators,211 round ammunition of 7.62 mm pistol and AK series.
