Guwahati(Assam), July 1 : The surge is on in Guwahati as far as detection on new Covid cases are concerned with the total number of cases in the state crossing the 8500 mark .
As of now a total of 140 Covid cases have detected in the state on Wednesday and 122 of these new cases are from Guwahati city .
Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that arrangements are being done for increasing hospital beds in the city .
He also said that a plasma bank would be operational in the city within 3 to 4 days and the state government has procured all the recommended drugs including steroids to ensure that the seriously ill patients are not shifted to the ICU as chances of recovery from ICU diminishes for Covid patients .
He also informed that COVID-19 management and discharge protocols in Assam have been revised and new test kits are being procured by which the results could be obtained within few hours .
He said the government is continuously scaling up our testing abilities & improving our medical infra to ensure best management of pandemic.
He tweeted , “📌Alert ~ 140 new #COVID19+ cases detected. I must mention that 122 out of these are from Guwahati City and it is my humble plea to all to strictly follow lockdown guidelines to be able to flatten the curve. No need to panic, however.”
