Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 11 : The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government today defeated the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition in the State Assembly through a voice vote .
Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh put the no-confidence motion to a voice vote after hours of discussion which was participated by both the ruling and the opposition .
The oppposition Congress had moved a no- confidence motion against the NPP-led government in Meghalaya alleging that it has failed on all fronts.
The Congress leaders had also raised points that the Conrad Sangma government has failed in protecting the interest of the state.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in a tweet said the members of the Opposition had raised a No Confidence Motion against the present Government that was put to vote in the House today. The resounding vote of confidence, with all the partners of the MDA voting against the Motion shows their support and belief in this Government.
