Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 15 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today told the state Assembly that the state police have done their best to track Vicky Dey who tried to spread hatred and a poor image of the state .
The Chief Minister said that despite the hard work of the police, they are yet to arrest Vicky Dey as he absconding .
Replying to the called attention motion tabled by the opposition Congress Member , George B. Lyngdoh who represents the Umroi constituency, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the state police have filed an FIR against Vicky Dey at Shillong Sardar Police Station to investigate into the matter and also at Panaji Police Station in Goa.
Sangma said that the lookout notices have been sent to West Bengal and other states of the country. The Minister also added that other states are yet to respond to the lookout notices sent by the state Government. The Chief Minister rejected the allegation of incompetency of the state police.
He criticized the opposition members for painting a poor image of the police, who needs to be appreciated for their hard work.
Raising the issue through the call attention motion, opposition Congress member , Geroge B. Lyngdoh strongly criticized the state police for their inability inability to trace Vicky Dey who tried to create tension by hate statement in social media.
George B. Lyngdoh said such irresponsible statements could lead to communal tension, fear and communal violence. Lyngdoh added that the inability of the state police to apprehend Vick Dey has created a poor image of the police, who are more concerned only with only urban issues.
He said posting of such hate and statements attract violation of cyber law and such criminals should be taken to task.
