Meghalaya : 1 more armed personnel test Covid positive in Tura

Shillong (Meghalaya),June 30 : 1 more armed personnel was confirmed Covid positive in Tura this evening .

The patient had traveled from Bihar to Tura .

Confirming the case, CM Conrad Sangma tweeted , “One more armed personnel who traveled from Bihar to Tura has tested positive for COVID 19. Total positive cases 53,Total active cases 10.”

Earlier in the day , an employee of the State Bank of India (SBI), who traveled from Guwahati and tested positive had gone directly to SBI ,Khliehriat without undergoing Covid test as per guidelines laid down by the government .

The patient , a recently appointed branch manager of SBI Khliehriat in East JaiƱtia Hills district somehow managed to avoid the necessary tests at Byrnihat by showing his official ID stating that he would get himself tested at Civil Hospital in Shillong .

However , without undergoing any tests he directly went to his branch . It was finally with the intervention of the Local Durbar that he was sent to quarantine and finally tested positive .

The state government is likely to file an FIR against him for violating Covid -19 protocol and guidelines .
