Shillong( Meghalaya ), Aug 03 : It has been quite a journey for Shillong’s 4th Element. It has not been easy perfecting their style of music, with its elements of Funk, Jazz, RnB and Soul, but they have done it.
Those who already know this band of misfits will agree that they stand out from the crowd of musicians that have emerged out of Shillong. Their unique style has resonated not only in the local or national music scene, but on a global stage as well.
This August, 4th Element will be one of the acts featuring in the 4 day Nisville Jazz Festival in Nis, Serbia; making them the first band from India to ever perform in the festival.
Nisville Jazz Festival has been held since 1995 and it draws a crowd of 50,000 to 80,000 making it one of the top 10 jazz festivals in Europe.
In the past, the festival has hosted prominent artists like Joss Stone, Al Di Meola, Randy Brecker, Candy Dulfer, Incognito, The Manhatten Transfer, Omar Hakim, Stanley Jordan, Gypsy Kings, Lenny White, Victor Bailey, Billy Cobham and Roy Hargrove (just to name a few) and this year 4th Element will be one of the bands performing at this festival apart from the main acts like Maceo Parker(backing band of James Brown), Christian Scott, Dat Brass, Malina Moye, Jamal Thomas, Sean Kutti, Jo Mersa Marley(Bob Marley’s grandson), Bob Geldof and others.
4th Element has come a long way and this is not their first international appearance. They have performed in Central America (BelizeJazz Festival). Manila (The Philippines International Jazz Festival), Kathmandu (The Jazzmandu Festival), Mexico, Singapore and Bangkok and in India they have been a part of The Delhi International Jazz Festival and other events and festivals.
Nisville will be their seventh international stage which the band considers an honour and a huge milestone.
