Guwahati (Assam) , May 15 : Seven persons including a child were injured after a grenade blast rocked near Guwahati Central Mall in RGB road this evening at 7.45 pm.
All the injured have been rushed in the Guwahati Medical College . The condition of two of them was stated to be critical and they have been shifted to a private nursing home for specialized treatment.
Senior Police officials said that the blast rocked the entire Zoo road area of Guwahati and target was on the mobile police post just near the mall.
Top police officials including state DGP , K, Saikia have rushed to the spot.
‘It is too early to comment on who could be behind the blast. We are still investigating ‘, said a senior police official .
DGP K. Saikia said that the police had intensified their operations in the state in past few days as a result of which a number of militants along with arms and ammunition were nabbed or were forced to surrender.
This morning state Chief Minister , Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the law and order situation and asked the top brass of the police to put a check on criminal activities and to make every city dweller feel secure .
Meanwhile , ULFA (I) Supremo , Paresh Barua called up a some of the local channels and claimed the responsibility behind the blast .
