Dimapur(Nagaland) Feb. 9: Nagaland will observe a total bandh on Monday to demonstrate opposition to the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016.
The resolution was passed in a meeting conducted among the tribe hohos, civil societies, and mass-based organisations at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.
The apex tribal organisations would take responsibility to organise the bandh in their own districts.
Earlier, there was a peaceful rally about the submission of memorandum for CAB and Naga political issue on Friday Feb. 8 in Kohima where a representation expressing Naga people’s opposition was submitted to the president and prime minister through the state governor.
A press statement from the organisations stated that all Naga people should observe prayer day on Sunday Feb. 10, in all churches . The Joint Christian Forum, pastors, and tribal leaders have entrusted to make necessary announcements.
“The NGBF and Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants will jointly coordinate and supervise the above,” read the statement.
