Meghalaya : Govt to set up State Guest Houses In Bengaluru and Guwahati

Shillong (Meghalaya ) ,Oct 13 : Meghalaya Government is keen to set up a Meghalaya House in Bangalore besides a new state House in Guwahati.

Addressing a press conference , General Administration Department (GAD) Minister, C. Ymbon said that apart from Bangalore, Department had a plan to open one more state house in Guwahati as the existing state house in Rehabari area was over congested .

Yambon said that the price of the land was every expensive in Bangalore and the department is facing fund constrains .
The proposed new Meghalaya House will be in Khanapara area and the officers are already searching a plot of land in the area.

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) of Bangalore Unit, had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, asking for a Meghalaya House in the metropolitan city since the city of Bengaluru is a favourite destination for students, entrepreneurs, tourists, job-seekers, etc. from the state of Meghalaya.

As of now many residents of the state are denied rooms in the Meghalaya Houses owing to the shortage of rooms. Residents have to approach their MLAs and Ministers to get an accommodation in these houses.

At present , there are two Meghalaya Houses in Kolkata and New Delhi, one each in Mumbai, Vellore and Guwahati.
