Imphal( Manipur) Aug 26 : A body of widows of the fake encounter victims under the banner Extrajudicial Execution Family Association Manipur (EEFAM), continues its struggle for justice of their killed family members who were killed in staged encounters by the security forces.
A sit-in-protest was staged today at Keishampat today demanding punishment of those involved in the heinous crimes as one of the top police officer and the then Superintendent of Police of Imphal West hearing in connection with July 23 Sanjit and Rabina BT Road fake encounter case will be heard in the court on Monday. The then SP of Imphal west Dr.Ak Jhalajit is scheduled to attend the court in connection with the case being investigated by the CBI tomorrow.
Sources said that the SP is likely to file a petition in the court for granting him bail . The EEFAM during the protest urged all concerned including the Governor of the state not to grant him bail so that the CBI can investigate the case .
During the protest ,visuals of former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi , present deputy chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar and SP Ak Jhalajit were displayed in the banners.
In the afternoon the protestors staged a rally towards Raj Bhavan but were prevented by the Police at the entry of Paona international Market and allowed 10 members to proceed to Raj Bhavan to submit their memorandum.
The memorandum to the Governor contains details on how the then SP who was responsible for the killing of Sanjit and Rabina. The EEFAM urged the governor to help the victims family in getting justice at the earliest.
