Meghalaya : Chief Minister Conrad Sangma files his nomination from South Tura constituency

Tura(Meghalaya), july 31 :Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer Sabrella Marak here for by election to South Tura constituency.

Prior to filing nomination papers, Chief Minister paid visit to his late father P. A. Sangma’s graveyard .

Filing of nominations began on Monday with the notification of the by-poll in the official gazette

The chief minister arrived shortly before noon to file his nomination papers with the returning officer in the premises of the Tura Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was accompanied by his family members, including his mother and widow of P A Sangma, and also elder brother and home minister James Pangsang K Sangma.

Younger sister Agatha K Sangma, who gave up her seat to pave the way for her elder brother and chief minister to seek entry into the state assembly also accompanied her mother Soradini K Sangma to the nomination venue.

While the NPP is already in the campaign mood following the filing of nomination papers, the opposition Congress is yet to officially announce its candidature. State congress leaders have said that only one name, that of retired school principal Charlotte W Momin, has been sent up to the party high command for clearance .
