By M.Devanand Sharma

Imphal (Manipur) , July 30 : Five times legislature of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, and veteran politician Okram Joy, who had joined the BJP today announced that he would quit the party .

The veteran politician was not the only person who has decided to quit the BJP but all his supporters from the Langthabal Assembly constituency also announced that the BJP Langthabal Mandal has been dissolved from today,

On taking such a drastic decision , Joy said that the BJP of today is different from the BJP of AB Vajpayee’s days . Today’s BJP is the BJP of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who has been spending more time in spreading “religious propaganda rather than taking up developmental works”.

The veteran politics was also concerned of the present impasse at Manipur University which has put all academic activities to a halt for past 2 months.

“Why the government acknowledges the issue of the Manipur University after 48 days of impasse?, Joy asked and said that even though the Manipur University is a central university almost all the colleges under the Manipur Government are affiliated to the University and the present problem would jeopardise the career of all students.

Terming the 35 member delegates headed by the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh as a timid team , Joy questioned Why can’t they boldly pursue the matter demanding proper investigations against the present VC .
