Unable to run business, liquor contractors want license fees back in MP

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Amidst the ongoing protests against liquor shops across the state, 15 contractors from Vidisha district urged the administration to return their license fees as they are not able to run the business. In a meeting with the district collector, they said the police are not  helping them.
 
In the past one week,  women in Vidisha vandalised  liquor shops and set one of them In another incident, the municipal corporation of the city dumped garbage just in front of a liquor shop. Similarly, people protested against another shop in Vidisha alleging nuisance.
 
Gajendra Raghuvanshi a contractor said, “The excise department had promised to support when the auction was taking place and the shops were being shifted from highways to the city areas.”
 
He said that each contractor is losing Rs 2.5 lakh per day as there has been no sale. “I have lost Rs 45 lakh in the last 15 days. Now, I can’t mortgage my house and property to run the business.”
